Yes that's right, it's our very own night for the launch of our brand new, first ever full length CD Black is the Colour.

We will have a support act (yet to be revealed), cake, bunting, and more yet to be decided! Tickets are already available for £8 through the link, or £9 on the night.

This will all be at the fabulous Green Note in Camden, and we're really excited about it!

This mainly free festival is in the lovely Leigh-On-Sea and well worth a trip out of London for! We had a lovely time last year, and are looking forward to playing on the Saturday afternoon in the upper gardens. The line-up is massive!

This is the 2nd year for the Bethnal Green Folk Day run by the lovely folks at Folk on Monday. Tickets will be £10 at the door and the line-up includes some of the best folkies on the London scene. There will also be the Mondegreen Folk Club running throughout the day in the Chapel

The Loughton Folk Day is a free event, although a collection will bee taken in aid of the Guide Dogs for the Blind. The day will kick off at at 4pm and there's a big line up of local folkies to look out for. We'll be on around 9pm.

News: Summertime

Well this year has just flown by, and we’re already in the middle of summer! Its been a great year for us so far and we’ve been playing and recording in most of our spare time.

Since last we wrote, we have had the great honour of supporting Ewan McLennan, playing a set on the opening night of the Gate to Southwell Folk Festival, being guests at The Hoy at Anchor Folk Club in Leigh-on-Sea and Folk at the Pump House in Watford as well as playing at a couple of smaller sets at London clubs and summer festivals. They have all been great fun for us, and we hope for the audiences, who have been so supportive and friendly.

As we have found ourselves with a few weeks off, we’re currently cracking on with recording in the hope that by the end of the summer we’ll have a full album put together! We’ll keep you posted.

Coming up later in August is the very first Bethnal Green Folk Day, hosted Folk on Monday. Its great to have this at our doorstep, and we’re very pleased to be involved, along with the likes of Jacquelyn Hynes and Kate Denny (Kittiwakes) and a number of other fantastic London acts. So if you’re free on the 20^th, come on down. It’s only £10 at the door and there’s at least 10 acts on I believe. All the relevant info can be found on our “shows” page.

The rest of the year so far has us back at Folk on Monday @ The Green Note in Camden, over to East Dulwich at The Goose is Out! as well as our first gig at the Islington Folk Club. More details, again, can be found on our shows page, and we’ll endeavour to keep this more up to date!

News: More new videos

Ste has been busy filming and editing, and we have a total of 5 new videos from this year now up on the site. 3 of these are from our recent Green Note gig, and 2 we recorded yesterday in our kitchen... I mean studio! This includes our first ever tune set! Hopefully the first of many (well at least the first of a couple).

Just a reminder that we'll be in Leytonstone next week, and for those planning well in advance, we will be supporting the recent BBC Folk Horizon Award winner, Ewan McLennan, in May at Folk on Monday, The Green Note, Camden.

A bit further into the future, we'll be featuring at Watford Folk Club on July 1st. We went along the other night to the singer's night there, and had such a great time - all of the singers/musicians were fantastic. So much talent! They have Helen Chinn playing next week, who has a beautiful haunting voice, and our friend Garry Smith there with his amazing resonator in March so its well worth checking out!

News: Folk on Monday gig

News: Happy New Year!

I hope you are all recovering well from the seeing in of the New Year. We're just getting ourselves organised and have already started learning some new tunes to go with the new year. One of my many resolutions is to keep the website more up to date, with bits of news more often than every 6 months...

Our first gig is only 2 weeks away, and we've been looking forward to it for a while. Folk on Monday (formally known as Monday Monday) are putting us on with Jacquelyn Hynes at Camden's Green Note. It should be a great night, with seom new tunes and songs from us (yes, tunes!) and great fluting from Jackie and friends.

Gigs for this year (and next!) are coming through and we'll put all the details up here as soon as they're finalised. Hope to see soon (maybe at The Green Note?)

News: Summer!?

Hello, and welcome to summer (sort of)!

We’ve had quite a busy but fun month, with more to come. We have recently attended a couple of festivals up north, which we really enjoyed!

At the end of May we headed up to Shepley in Yorkshire for the Shepley Spring Festival (www.shepleyspringfestival.com) where we experienced not only great music, but a full weekend of lovely warm sunshine. We had been warned that it is always cold and wet up there this time of year, and went with wellies in tow, but it was shorts and flip flops that were needed this year. Our favourite venue was The Couch House where the folk club was held. Fantastic acoustics! It was here that we saw some great acapella singing, notably from the Owd Chyvers and The Young’uns (www.theyounguns.co.uk).

This weekend just gone we headed north of Nottingham to The Gate of Southwell Folk Festival (www.southwellfolkfestival.org.uk). Again, a fantastic programme, which kept us busy going from one concert to the next with little time for breath! The weekend was made all the sweeter by us winning the Open Mic Competition and getting to play a couple of songs at the closing concert. We were honoured to be chosen and really enjoyed playing there.

Back in London a couple of Sunday’s ago we made our debut at the Brixton Windmill, where we played out in the garden by the BBQ. It was for the CD launch for our friends Juniper Leaf (www.myspace.com/thejuniperleaf) , who put on a mini festival for the occasion. They played a great set and the whole event was lots of fun.

As usual, we have been heading down to Folk in the Cellar in Camden every other Thursday, and made our way to Monday Monday in Clerkenwell, which from next week will be found at The Cross Kings in Kings Cross so if you have a chance head over there when you can!

Next Sunday, June 27, you will find us at the Walthamstow Folk Club playing as part of their end of season night Futureproof . The folk at Walthamstow have been very supportive of us and have kindly offered us half of the programme for this evening. The other half will be our friend from Folk in the Cellar, Emma Scarr (www.myspace.com/emmascarr) who will be playing with another friend Garry Smith (www.myspace.com/garrymsmith). It starts at 7.30 and it would be lovely to see some friendly faces down there! We even have a few new songs…

News: It's May already?

This was going to be our April update, but suddenly its May! We had a busy 2nd half of April (one of us was in Australia for the first half), with a Monday Monday gig, a Folk Against Fascism gig and a night at a brand new London folk night as well as our usual bi-weekly trips down to one of our favourite nights.

So, Monday Monday is going from strength to strength with Graham bringing fantastic acts to Clerkenwell (and kindly asking us to come along and play too every now and then). The next one is on the 17th, where we'll be supporting Lou Brown. Her myspace page (www.myspace.com/loubrownmusic) states that she draws inspiration from, amongst other things, her love of "The Sound of Music". As this was my favourite movie when I was growing up, I'm looking forward to the seeing how this will link together!

The last week of April saw a week of Folk Against Fascism events, and we were asked to play at Walthamstow Folk Club's contribution to the week. It was a great night, with many anti-Nick Griffin songs and poems. Post election, we are of course very pleased that the BNP didn't get any seats.

On the last Tuesday of the month we went along and played at the brand new Folk @ The Forge in camden (www.myspace.com/folkattheforge) run by the lovely Chris Sarjeant. This is a monthly even in the restaurant attached to The Forge and I believe Chris has some great guests lined up for the coming months, so get down there if you can.

Last but not least, you will more likely than not find us down at Folk in the Cellar at The Constitution in Camden every other Thursday (www.myspace.com/folkinthecellar). This is very much an interactive night, so come down and bring an instrument or just your voice. There are 10 min floor spots available between 9-11, and then a session for all. Its very friendly and inclusive and is always a great night (plus there's cake at half time!).

That's about it for now. Hope to see you out and about at one of our gigs (or someone elses) soon.

News: Eliza Carthy Support

So we did the Eliza Carthy support gig in March....'the big one' for us, we knew it was coming up for a few months and was seeming like a scary day looming large, we had a few rehearsals with a PA in a local studio and were about as ready as we could be, turned out to be really fun, and we both enjoyed the performance and gig, though we did have a bit of a hangover the next day, still reckon we deserved a pint or two.
